got ticket on 280 for exhaust, and now need some advice!
Hello everyone. First off I have to rant. CHP r D-Bags. I hate bending over backwards, and answering yes sir, no sir, when I am a 30 year old, very responsible adult. I don't do anything that most of you would call reckless or unlawful, and like most of you, I just love cars, working on them and driving them.
Now with that said, I got pulled over last night on 280 going home after work from SF to SJ (not speeding or anything that a cop would consider suspect except having a shiny car with a big wing). He went through my entire engine and asked me what I pull at the track and how often do I street race,(come on i am kinda old for that, plus if i woas going to race on 280 a 2.0l wrx would not be my 1st choice) I was very polite and curtious hoping to get out of whatever he had in mind for me.
So after about a half hour of snooping around he say I am writing you a ticket for loud exhaust (27151a), but I should send you to state ref for a downpipe. This is an non correctable ticket come to find out that will coast me like 200 plus I have to change my exhaust.
So my question: I have the greddy TI-C on right now, what CB should i get thats not going to get attention but still sound good look stock and is single tip 3inch, I am cobb stage 2 and will keep my DP. (and I don't like the borla hush). Also if anyone wants something a little louder I would be willing to trade for a non conistar exhaust. My TI-C is in great shape and never bottomed out and is less then a year old. I love this exhaust it looks so nice and sounds great, I wish these cops would just leave me alone. Sorry this post is so long winded I am just so pissed.......

by redwood city close to farmhill, the funny part is I just got a tint and no front place in same spot by different cop exactly 2 month and 30min to the day hour before. (btw my tint was very light, less then my sisters factory mini copper tint)
Be careful out their, he said he's part of a new crackdown on street racing on 280, they r looking for modded imports. I think they should be looking for the punks in BMW m3/5 that are doing well over 100mph, and the mini vans that cut across 4 lanes with no blinker on their way to yoga.

from what Ave and Anna told me, we are ALLOWED to have a modified exhaust under 95 db if our cars are UNDER 6000 pounds, which does apply to us. The cop does not have the training to tell you that your car is so and so db, because ... they just don't have the training, that is why they send you to state ref because they do have the training. Now in this case, I've heard Ti-C's, and they are quite loud, so I don't know if you were able to use that excuse of it being under 95... but I'm sure if Anna was there she woulda talked the entire time for you, she knows her shietttt

well I would rather have gotten this ticket then gone to state ref where i would have to change my dp and upp. The way I understand it is that their are different laws that say different things. One says you can't change exhaust to be louder under any circumstance while one says you cant have and exhaust over 98d, and another dealing with emmisoins. I got booked for modding exhaust to be louder, basically he told me if he can hear it on the freeway its 2 loud.

i just dont understand why you turbo guys spend so much on exhaust parts and cant convince yourself to buy one of those $200 Y cutout pipes so you'd be somewhat "legal" to the eye and ear
not to directed to owen, but the 100's of guys with these same threads lol
