Got in an accident. Any advice?
Sup dudes, Happy Chinese New Year!
And to kick it off, I get into an accident. Everyone's safe. All my fault. Other guy's car got dented and scratched on driver side. Here are some pix of my suby:
As you can see, there is only damage to the rear. The trunk wont open, and left turn signal won't work. License plate came off with the bumper, which is cracked but still in one piece.
Any idea on how much it'll cost to fix it and where I can get it done? (around Mountain View, Palo Alto, or San Jose prefrably) Thanks.

BCCC (Bay Cities Collision Center) in Burlingame is EXCELLENT. They did custom work on my Type R and fixed a family member's S2000 which I had an accident in. They can be pricey, so if you are going through insurance I would recommend them, but if you're coming out of pocket, I'd look elsewhere.

hard to say how much it will run.
depends on what is bent that's not initially visible. LIke the floor of the trunk or frame.
Looks like you're gonna need a new tail light/bulbs. New rear bumper. New rear quarter panel. And a bunch of little stuff. And possibly some stuff you can't see.
Just take the hit and go through insurance for both cars. Sucks. But hey...you could always talk to the body shop and get them to add exhaust onto the bill...just kick it or something so it's bent.
my guess is gonna be around $7k. If nothing major is jacked up.

Thanks for the info, guys.
I just got off the phone with the other guy's insurance agent. My insurance will cover for his damages, and I'll be able to pay for only the first $1000.
Going to go to an adjuster that the agent gave me on Tuesday. Then, I'm going to do some math and calculate if it's worth paying it myself or paying the $1000 and taking the higher insurance rates.

Dude..just to paint my car...entire left side and roof. $3000. Only parts to replace where one window and onen roof rail. So you figure $2500 in paint.
His paint is gonna be pretty close to that. Quarter panel, bumper probably the trunk will need to be blended. Parts are gonna be expensive too. Rear quarter panel and bumper alone are gonna run quite a bit. $175 for the tail light plus bulbs. (some places will charge $290), Bumper reinforcement gonna run you about $150 and the bumper cover is about the same. Quarter panel is gonna run $360-460.
So that's $725 on the low side and $1000 on the high side just for parts. And that's not including things like trim, fender lining, clips, hingest, etc.
So you figure....$1000 for parts. $2500 for paint plus laber and misc stuff.
Gonna run $6k plus. If anything is bent and need replacing or straitening....could easily double. I'm thinking $6-9k is a safe bet.

Well I'm compairing to my first accident. My freind backed in to my car. New sti Hood, bumper, a/c condencer, bumber beam, reset feinders and reset a hole shjt load of stuff plus sprayed and coated the front half of the car so it would blend. And that was 4,400. I'm not trying to be a jerk but if you think so, I will bet $20 it's not over 6.5k.

I'm guessing around 5k$
Needs parts, paint, and you might have bent metal. They will probably need to blend everything, and if they do a great job, it can take some time.
