my roomate has one, and it's def. more quiet than my WRX (stock vs. stock). did the g35 you were driving have rims or something??
anyways, the G35 is a GREAT mid sized sedan and is a relative bargain compared to other cars in its class.

What about a Forester XT or legacy GT wagon. Plenty of room for the dogs. Nice cars. Reliable.
Magnum, volvo, audi a4. All good wagons.
If she doesn't want a wagon why not something like a G35 sedan, volvo or maybe something like that vw suv...teurag or however it's spelled.

For smoothness, comfort and noise I think the TL would be a good choice. The G35 has a bit noisier motor and the ride is a tad bit stiffer than a TL. TSX is kind of gutless for my liking, and you have to get it into vtec before it even starts to wiggle, plus it's not that quiet at all. One of my buddies just picked up an avalon limited, and that's a very decent car. I was surprised at the power it has, and it is very quiet and comfortable to boot. There's always the nissan maxima, but it's not all that quiet. A Volvo S60 or S40, is a very happy car. Oh and dont forget about the forduar, I mean Jaguar X-type, it's pretty queit, decent power, and has AWD. There's also the Lexus ES330 to look at as well. Tons of choices.
And damn, I thought I was a pimp for buying my mom a corolla s for X-mas, sheesh.
Edit***
NO FREAKING WAY on a magnum. The suspension is slushy(and I mean GROSS), it does have decent power only if you opt for the hemi, and has a lot of room, but the interior was designed by tupperware. A yugo is more luxurious. It's loud as hell, has tons of wind noise, and just SUCKS. ok..

Magnum is US made, so its out. SUVs are out as well.
Lots of people recommending the G35 sedan, so we;ll def. drive that.
Volvo S60 would be a great choice.
There is also a non-turbo 6cylinder Outback and Outback Sedan. Actually makes less peak torque then the turbo version (219lb/ft versus the turbo w/ 250lb/ft), but it should come on smoother and be less gutless down low.

Sounds to me like she's got her mind made up already.
Go to the dang acura dealership and get it out of the way. TL is a good car.

You might want to look at the jaguar x-type and the audi TT. The x-type is AWD, but a little on the slow side. A used 3.2L TT w/ paddle shift (s-line) will be in that price range and comes w/ a 100k mile warranty from the dealership, and is really fun to drive.

only way 2 dogs are fitting in a TT is if they're tiny yapper dogs.
my dad just bought my mom a Nissan Altima 3.5 SE in pearl white. It came out to about $26k No leather or nav but that doesn't matter to her anyway. It's another one to add to the my Nissan family...lol
