Good Cars for my Mom

So, my present to my mother for Mother's Day (you all got something for your mother's, right?) is that I would fly up and help her buy a car. But, I've never shopped in her price range, so if you guys could throw out some ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Criteria:
New or Used
Price: < 35K
"Sexy and fun, but room for 2 dogs in the back seat".
Quiet (low road noise).

I tried to steer her towards the Legacy GT, but it was too loud for her, and she doesn't like the gutlessness of a 4cyl turbo down low.

So, any other ideas?

Has Audi's reliability improved of late? Last time I looked at them they were about as reliable as a ornery mule.

SUVs are a no . The G35 sedan is a good idea though. THe Audi A3 looks interesting too...

I showed her the Matrix, she said it was ugly, and the highlander is an SUV.

With 35K that leaves a floodgate of choices. How bout a Acura TL or Chrysler 300M?

The Acura TL is def. on the list. She might like that. The 300M is out, as are most American cars.

Given the way my mom drives, she'd die in a horrible wreck if I bought her tEh fAstAr SRT-4 .

I'm gonna second the G35, it's a great vehicle with a lot of room in the back and very little road noise ( if she drives like her age ). The engine is a great and suspension and handling are superb. The car has the luxery an older lady wants can still whop a coupla civics and integras on the straightaway or the twisties ( not that she'd do that buh you know, for those times when you "borrow" it ). Another good wagon out there is the IS300 wagon, when I test drove it, it had very little road noise and it definately have more than enough room for two dogs.
