Would you recommend I get an transmission fluid change before my big trip?
I read somewhere it's potentially harmful to get an transmission fluid change on old tranny's....
I believe I got an transmission fluid change done around 100k
--->Now my car has 125K+ miles on it....
I recently got an oil change (mobil1) and I just topped off the coolant today...
Anything else you might suggest I do before the big haul...
As always thank you in advance!!!!
P.S. When my car is in stop-and-go traffic sometimes it idles at 2,000rpm in hot weather... any clue to what might cause that besides the thermostat? Thanks! BTW Special Thank You to everyone that has helped me install stuff on my car super cool of all you!!!!

your fine, Just enjoy the ride
Edit: Didn't see the part about the high Idle, Not sure what would cause that but I would start with the basics. Pressure test the turbo system post turbo, Clean your MAF, check your filter.
hope It helps

Go to the subaru website and look at the service intervals for your car and make sure that is kept up.
Definitely clean your MAF. I cleaned mine because it was so dirty. I now get up to 28mpg on the highway. Check your tire pressure (I'd run 36). Retorque your lugs, look under your car and check for any leaks. Check your belts for cracks. Check all of your lights to make sure none are burnt out. Wash it. A dirty car doesn't cut through the air as efficiently.
Also DO NOT USE MOBIL1. DO NOT. Change that stuff out, so many spin bearings on that stuff, especially on higher mileage.

How would I clean my MAF? Like with a wet rag? Thanks!

NO! lol
Go to your local auto store and look for a bottle of Mass Air flow sensor cleaner, The good stuff Is made by CRC but really any of them will work.
Remove the 2 small screws holding the MAF In place, Spray down the little dark brown tear drop looking thing till It looks clean ( Gold In color ) then look up inside the MAF towards the top there should be a wire ( This Is your actual MAF sensor or what meters your Incoming air. Spray the sensor, Let the MAF sit for 10 mins before reinstalling, when putting your MAF sensor back Into your Intake make sure to put a very small amount of light grease or O ring grease on the top O ring to keep It from catching and getting torn.
should be good to go from there.

That's some great advice right there lol!
You boys need to get on the phone to a decent suby shop ASAP and have them advise you from now on. The advice your getting right now sucks *****
You're welcome in advance
Man people are always blame the oil. Yeah I've run mobil 1 in all my subies, never had a problem. People talk a lot, but I've never met anyone personally that believed they had any motor damage due to mobil 1. Seems like a cop out to me.
In response to the tranny, yes get the fluid changed by reputable place.

are you being sarcastic? you seem full of advice. if you looked into the blackstone lab reports of mobil1 5w30 compared to many other oils... you'd see the stuff is crap. this isn't an oil debate so if you don't have anything to actually contribute, get out.
Oh noes....Every variety of every viscosity of Mobil 1 for every application is crap people..you heard it here first people.
I have used Mobil 1 of varying viscosities for different applications for years, as have some of the i-club tuner shops (that run in excess of 600whp for a full race season). Between track days, daily driving duties and autox my car has hardly burnt a drop.
Please do me a favor and quote the blackstone results that cause you so much concern..I'd appreciate the heads-up. Seriously.
