Price: $379.00
Saw this deal an figured since there would seem to be a large amount of gun crazies (
) that some of you might appreciate this.
BTW not associated with this site, infact I've never shot a gun but always admired them from afar and understand that Glock usually = quality

I suppose one of the only catches with this gun would be the ammo since it's not as readily available as the .45 ACP rounds.

Just based from what I've seen on a couple sites, it would seem to be the case.
For instance:
.45 ACP
http://georgia-arms.com/45acp.aspx
notice the various options
and
http://gun-deals.com/ammo.php?caliber=.45+ACP
once again many options
now .45 GAP
http://gun-deals.com/ammo.php?caliber=.45+GAP
one option
http://georgia-arms.com/cannedheat45...ket1000pk.aspx
one option again
Would just seem to be a trend in my eyes, but then again, I was only posting this in case anyone was interested in this particular gun because of its compact characteristics while still offering a .45 caliber round.
Little background on the round:
"The .45 G.A.P. (often called the .45 "GAP") pistol cartridge was designed at the request of firearms manufacturer Glock to provide a cartridge that would equal the power of the .45 ACP but was shorter to fit in a more compact handgun, and with a stronger case head to reduce the possibility of case neck blowouts. G.A.P. is an acronym for "Glock Automatic Pistol", and the .45 G.A.P. is the first commercially-introduced cartridge identified with Glock."
As mentioned before the GAP round is less popular than the ACP making it possible more expensive to fire.

I know nothing about guns and the general laws regarding gun ownership. Is it hard to get a license (I have a clean record)? Always contemplated on getting a handgun for paper target practice and home/self-defense, but never bothered to actually pursue it due to laziness and costs
What are the requirements for a license? Any classes I have to take? Better yet, is there a FAQ website to go to for a complete noob to read up on?

Don't you need a gun company that is willing to hold the gun for you until the waiting period is over?
Not sure how many local gun shops would be willing to hold a gun you purchased from another shop.

next is that you must be 21 years old.
then you need 2 proof of address. driver's license and bill of something (cable, water, pg&e, etc).
then go to sigarms.com to learn about the CLASSIC series as the best out of the box handguns in the world. i would recommend a sig P226 in 9mm as a starter handgun.
various gun ranges, like reeds in san jose offers classes for beginners. i think they do something similar in the san leandro gun range.
but, if you are a hot single chick (or if you can bring 1 or 2 chicks), i could be talked into giving you a intro...

I'd be a little nervous about continued production on the GAP round. It's kinda dated at this point The 45ACP will never go away, and the 10mm has taken the niche that the GAP was filling
Yah I tried one of the Sig Sauer 9mm handguns at a range one time and really liked it. It had very little recoil and that's what I like. Not sure which model it was but it was somewhere between that p226-p229 or something like that.
probably a 226.
229 was designed around the 40 and .357 sig round. only aftermarket barrel makers like barsto makes a 9mm barrel for it. and from what i heard, it takes some work to make to make it work.
the full size 226 (vs the 1" or so smaller 229) is made with 9mm and 40 from the factory.
you might have shot a 228, which is a single stacked 9mm only also.
AFAIK there aint no 227 model.
