Like everyone said need more info. Here is some non car things to think about, since her parents are essentially paying for it... reliability and cost of ownership should be on the top of the things that YOU should think about when making suggestions.

Getting a used more expensive car when new vs. say a used Honda, and then it needs this or that for maintenance and it costs more, it may come back to you as being the one who suggested the car. What kind of cars do her parents drive? If they are Honda Accords or Camrys, that should give you a clue as to their mindset. This is a car site, we look at cars differently than other people.

Thanks for the input guys! I'll probably start looking for a few different models, probably G35, IS300, and some others but Thank again!

+1 on IS300 if you can find a nice one for 10K. GS300 is nice too and can be had cheaper -- same inline 6 as in the Supra. The Mini Coopers are getting to that price range, too.

Lots of beemers in that price range, I'd love to get one but not sure I want to deal with the maintenance.

Volvo S60 is a nice car for a girl too, my ex had a turbocharged one. Very nice and fun to drive.

I agree. You can get one in great condition for cheap and it will be reliable.

Hondas are great, just not the most luxurious. Girls like luxury cars.

S60 takes too much gas. too big for a girl, imo . S40 would be good! I used to have 1, and i loved it!
