My Wife 1.0 software has been working great for the past four years. I installed a program called Compromise version 8.0.

after you've been with Girlfriend 7.0 or Wife 1.0 for 8yrs, you realize that Compromise 8.0 is really a link that simply executes the background application "Yes Dear".

after trying to only run a version of Girlfriend 7 with almost all the components of "The Wife" 1.0, for such a long time, and with so much maintenance, I've realized that a true dual or multiple boot system, or purely running Open Source, is the way to go.

Also worth looking into:

Wife 1.0 can also be run in "working" or "business relationship" mode, no need to wait until Wife 2.0...but just like with any other version of Wife, make sure your registry settings are saved properly before loading...
