On section 8 since I started it in this thread I will give some insight.
Having been a long time Antioch/Brentwood resident like since the only bad part of Antioch was 10th st and the accompanying neighborhoods and the only real trouble was my redneck kinfolk cooking meth and basically being White Trash.
In moves the section 8 movement where the state and county of Contra Costa offered the Developers huge tax breaks if they released x amount of houses as section 8. These were not rental properties these were for sale section 8 houses.
Say you have a neighborhood with 10 houses they would sell or release 3 or4 of them or 30% to section 8. So I pay 300k for my home while my next door neighbor most likely relocating from Richmond/Oakland and im not talking about the good parts is able because of thier reduced income or lack of any income is able to buy thier houses for 120k or less and the government paid the rest to the developer.
Yea buddy buddy. It stayed out of Brentwood for a long time but they finally gave in due to some lawsuit or somthing. The residents in Brentwood took it into thier own hands and there were reports of 3-4 cross burnings on front lawns accompanied by bricks through windows ETC ETC per year.
It would appear however the hyphy movement finally made it to Brentwood. I am elated I moved to Livermore.
Note disclaimer to readers I do not condone crossburnings and as a matter of fact had a close friend and neighbor have this happen to her family. I was just putting it out there for entertaining reading.
