Funny SFPD anecdote

Today I saw two cops in a SFPD car in the Western Addition area. The cop in the passenger seat was talking on his cell phone and playing Microsoft solitaire on his little laptop computer.

So for all of you out there who doubt that cops are on the streets looking out for you.... there you go.

It should be noted that I walked past two people shooting up heroin and one person dealing three blocks away from where I saw the cops, and all of this was going on out in the open as it does every single day in the Tenderloin.

To the SFPD: thanks for making my commute to work safer

In the end... who is easier to catch and get money out of. Drug dealer/addict or tax paying citizen driving around.

Also, remeber what San Francisco is culturally and politically about. Drug busts it not on the top of the list. And drug dealing and taking in the Tenderloin is the least of that areas problems.

Its all realitive and I must admit that often the cops in SF, and the administration, is merciful in what they choose to focus on. Its not always about who they can get the most money from :-/

I always think how funny it is whenever I read the quote that was put on one of our sgt. desk:
"We, the unappreiciated, do the unknown, for the uncaring and ungrateful."

There are certain areas in the Tenderloin where things just happen blatantly in the middle of the day and nothing gets done about it. For instance, Turk street around Jones and Leavenworth has one block where about five crack smokers light up during the day, every day at the same place on the same stoop. These people do it every day, but that's not the bad part. The bad part is that there is a childrens playground right across the street from where these crackheads are having their fun. I think it's appalling that the city can overlook cleaning up this area. Families live in the Tenderloin and they deserve better, a LOT better.

A couple of weeks back I was driving out to the beach with my friends. I was cruising at about 80 through the area of Point Reyes Rd where there is that water resevoir.

A highway patrol man was sitting off to the right of the road in a little turn off. I saw him after I passed and screamed "OH ****!" and start freaking out because I already have received 2 tickets since September.

Someone in the back seat who, thankfully, got a better look said that the cop was dead asleep. His head was resting back on his headrest and his mouth was wide open, completely still.

Silly cop, shoulda drank more coffee.
