You'd have to be pretty stupid to try to sell what amounts to a one-off set of wheels/hubs, I know. It's worth a look, though. I really can't shell out the money to replace them right now. It massively blows. It's the ONLY bike like that I know of in the SJ area, not that it helps.
So frustrating.

strangely enough the best way to catch them is to NOT post on all these bike forums. Because they'll find other ways to sell them or just dump them if heat gets to hot. Better to just keep an eye open.
When my race bike got stolen I literally ran over to the bike shop that I hung out at, got parts made at and occassionally worked at... anyways... I told them to keep an eye open. Then I called the cops and called around.
Few weeks later the bike shop guys see the bike... across the street from my house.
We track the dude down. Cop won't take the bike because I was missing the last 4 digits of the serial number... had the first 8 or 10 or whatever the hell it was.... water damage on the paper.
Anyways.... keep eyes open. They'll most likely end up on the dudes bike or end up for sale in a week or so.
see this?
Doesn't match the quality/condition of the bike.

I saw that. It's a complete, though. The person only took the wheels. I have the rest of the bike still. I have the frame and everything less the wheels.
Thanks for keeping eyes out. I'll keep looking but am slowly giving into having to suck it up and build new wheels. The ***** of it is I REALLY like those wheels and replacing them won't be super cheap. The hubs don't have serial numbers either.
Ugh.

That sucks. If only bicycles were as heavy as dirt bikes, people wouldnt bother with them.
I've been looking at $2000+ full suspension frames, then I see **** like this. Sad people out there.
I dont have a clue about technology, but dont they have GPS chips that can be put inside frames and wheels by now?
That CL Ray posted looks suspicious since the bike is all beat up, maybe the wheels dont match the wear and tear of the bike, maybe the seller pieced random parts together. You can never be too sure.

I don't think the guy changed tires that fast, but I guess you never know.
I'll keep looking. Thanks again for all the help. I really can't say how greatful I am.
