Ok, yea, I've done it.. I think the last time it was at the Capitol meet and my wife thru out a chocolate chip muffin. It landed on top, and I figured eh why not and it was still in the plate...

theres actually a scientific method that i wont get into...but if the bag has little to no seepage, then youre all good.
You have to determine if its internal or external seepage, say for example...tortilla chip grease=internal=good or cat food seepage=external=bad
