Flights overseas?

Any of you guys found any ways to get killer flights over seas. My daughter turned 2 this year and went from free to $1850 to fly to germany! WTF!

I'd really like to get out to germany this year but I need to get flights for at the very least my wife and I. Might leave Lorelei at home but I don't know if my wife can handle that.

My brother in law is stationed over there and my uncle is living out there. I'd like to get out there and see the sites. Hang with my brother in law... maybe get tattoo'd and take in one of my uncles shows if he I can time his performance.

I'm planning on trying to get out there early next year or possibly september of this year for octoberfest. Woot! I'm already going to CO next year in March to snowboard for a week so I don't know if I can swing two huge trips in one year.

ideas? ANyone ever flown military before?

Flying to Europe is always around the 1k range. Im flying out to Portugal this coming week and it cost me over $1200 roundtrip on British Airways. It was purchased well in advance too. Sometimes airlines will run sales. Just have to keep looking.
Hell a week after I purchased my ticket, BA ran a sale and I could have save about $200

Also this year flying into Europe for the summer will be very expensive. Olympic games in England and the Euro 2012 in Poland (European National teams-soccer tournament)

Yeah the best price I got about 2 months ago was like $1850 a head. Nearly had a stroke. I had $4k put away but the tax man just snagged $3000 of it. LOL. Bastards.

check Expedia they sometimes have great deals, but other than that you either pay that outrageous price early or play the waiting game and hope you find a great deal

Find a travel associated with the country you're flying to etc. It was 1100 for my flight to japan through kintetsu. Germany requires a bit more I'm assuming mileage wise etc too.

I'm in Spain right now. Look into flying round trip out into Paris, Madrid, or London. Then look into economy airlines from there to Germany. Easyjet and Ryanair are very reasonable within Europe. We flew into London and made our way south. We fly out of Madrid. Flight alone was $853 each but it isn't peak season yet. Wednesday flights tend to be less expensive also. We budgeted $5500 for the trip and will end up spending closer to $7K. The US dollar is stupid weak right now.

Best I have seen was $500 round trip deals from SFO to LON back when I was going once a month, but that hasn't happened in a while. Last time I went to Spain I scored a $900 round trip on Iberia, but I would have paid double that had I known how much Iberia airlines sucks. Last trip was to Sweden last year and to do that I sold my Impreza swap project and every Subaru item I owned to come up with the ~$7k required to get myself, my wife and my daughter to Sweden. We used to go a couple times a year but those days are done. In fact, as much as I used to love to travel, I am not sure I will any more just because of how much it really sucks to do so - ESPECIALLY with a child. We've basically decided to see the as much of the US as we can, and by car.

Right on. I know some folks in London. Be worth stopping off there for a couple days for sure.

There is a LOT to be seen in this country by car. Shoot you can drive up and down the west coast and have a blast.

Yeah we don't travel much. I have only left the country once. Went to Fiji.

My wife has been to mexico and canada. I've been to neither.

I'd like to get out to London to Germany soon. Next year I'm going to CO for a few days to snowboard and I'm trying to wiggle my way in to a trip to ride canada or alaska in 2014. We'll see.

I had to sell off all my isht when I was out of work... not much left.
