damn you highway87! I now have a flat on my rear driver side tire. It seems like a small hole, but noticeable on the inside of the tire. Is it safe to repair and drive on or should I be looking to get a new tire? These wheels and tires are not even a week old.
P.S. I am also now really late to school and have swap tires and plead the professor to accept my paper. What a day I am having.

I'm sure he'll understand. Take a pic of the tire flat now and get a new one. Then turn you paper in with an apology, the pic and the reciept on top and I can just about guarantee he'll take it. If he doesn't I know your Dean will make him take it.

I've been out of work for about 45 days now...big job interview, walk out and find my driver side rear flat - examine it and just see a tiny piece of metal - grab the vice grips pull it out...4" lag bolt!
Put the small spare on, run to my tire place, don't forget I still have an interview today, and they tell me the lag bolt rubbed through the sidewall from the inside, they refuse to put the tire back on, "it's not safe" aaaargh!
Didn't get the job either

What kind of tire is it? If it has a mileage warranty on it, get it prorated and since it's only a week old that's basically 100% which makes it free. Also, what do you mean by noticeable on the inside of the tire? Did you take the tire off the wheel and look?
If you go to many of the bigger tire shops they'll repair it for free. I know America's Tire Co. does it for free even if you didn't buy the tires from them. You should definately get it repaired because if it's not repairable then it's a bad tire to drive on, and if it is but you don't repair it you can risk running too low of an air pressure and basically destroying your tire's sidewalls from the inside.

Yeah, I'm sure the ZIEX 512s do have a 30k mile warranty on them. So if the hole isn't repairable then ask them to prorate it, and since it's only a week old, it should be basically free. If they're **** retentive about it, bring up the 30 day ride guarantee and all that crap.
Good luck
Good luck
Sidewall damage is never repairable.
In-tread punctures can be repaired if they can get a plug to fit the hole. I've had 5 flats in the last two years and America's were able to fix all of them. If you purchased the tire from them, they usually do it for free, otherwise there is a small charge.
They will also refuse to fix a tire that has already has another separate repair on it - i.e. only one point of damage per tire.

Also, the 2nd part is not true. America's Tire Co. is allowed to perform 2 repairs per tire before it is deemed no good. Unless you mean it was a gummy patch (where they put this gummy substance in the tire instead of a patch).

Yup, it has been a while since my last flat. They used to charge $13 (or something like that) but give a coupon for $13 off the next tire purchased from them - I ended up with four of them
Its still pretty cheap anyway so I'm not worried. My other flat was on my motorbike - with only 300 miles on the tire
The 2 repairs thing used to be on an info board, but maybe I mis-read it.
One thing I will say for them is that I have always had great service from them - both in Mountain View and Steven's Creek.
