first oil change

So in about to do my first oil change. Going full synthetic in my 06 wrx. I've read that it takes 5 liters and that I should use ramps not jack stands. My question is where should I get my oil filter? Looking to get an OEM filter and don't have time to orde it. Thanks for the help.

It's not going to be 5 quarts whole, don't overfill it.

Yeah, don't overfill it. I think it's more like 4.3 quarts or something? check your owner's manual to be sure.

Also, if your car is not lowered and you're not a thick guy, you can fit under there w/out jacks or ramps.

When I was younger I could do this, some driveways give you a dip and I could crawl under the car. Not so much now

And yes, read the manual. 2.5 Turbo should be 4.8 quarts.

I would get the OEM filter at a nearby subaru dealership. Don't forget the crush washer.

The OEM filters are made by honeywell now, so I would not recommend using them. We always have WIX filters in stock here or you can pick up a NAPA Gold filter which is a re-branded WIX.

K&N oil filters work fine as well, you can pick them up at any auto parts store.

Do you have a part number for those WIX filters, Ed? I don't feel like traveling all the way down to the dealer just for an oil filter.
