Not a requirement, but on my 2nd track day, I had boiled my fluid. Boiled fluid seems to happen before the pads actually fade. That got scary by the end of the day and it scared me. There was no way I was going to run again without upgraded fluid.
Flushing your brake system was extremely daunting for me at first. Scary to think that off all the systems in your car, this is the one that integral in preventing you from crashing. (And your tires of course, but tires are a much simpler system). After flushing it myself, I realize there are a lot of precautions to take, but in general it's a fairly simple process. In the end, you're "rinsing a very long series of straws from a reservoir of fluid".
Make sure you have the right tools (box end wrench, tubing, etc) and READ UP on how to flush (see scoobymods.com)

Yea that was me in the STI running in the C group. By the time I did a little extra cooldown and checked out my car you guys were already linning up to run your sessions. Oh well it was good to see some other Subies at the track. It has been getting kind of lonely lately. This is the first time in a while where the Subies out numbered the EVO's. In fact I don't think there was even one EVO there. We couldn't have asked for a better weather day. Sunny and low 60's in February. Hope to see you guys at more events.
