exhaust fix-it again... 2nd time now
exhaust fix-it again... 2nd time now
thanks to my hks carbon ti, i got another fix it ticket for modified exhaust. although this time, i was speeding (65 on 50), and the officer was cool enough to give me a warning, and let me go with just a fix it. but this time makes me wonder if the carbon ti is too much trouble than it's worth. i really like it, and dont really want to part with it. (and it goes with all the ricey parts that i recently acquired). right now, i can think of two options.
1. replace the carbon ti with Borla Hush. how's the power gain compared to the carbon ti? will it be much of a downgrade?
2. slap on a silencer and give the hks another try.
what are you guy's opinion on these?

65 in a 50 is speeding, the cop could have got u for a speeding ticket rather than a modified exhaust ticket... dunno why your thinking of swapping exhausts because you got pulled over, if anything trade for a greddy evo ( it has 2 resonators and even on wot doesn't sound that loud )... se0ul has one for trade
but for now, slap on your stock turbo back, get it written off by a cop and gl

i doubt it's the hks carbon Ti.
Sure it's loud, but i've had cops next to me, behind me, and in front of me for a good year while i had the exhaust on the car. Never had a problem.

Depends on where you live. Around my area, cops have better things to do.
Everyone in my area has a modified exhaust. Nobody has gotten a fix-it ticket.
Maybe you're running into some bad luck. Don't go WOT near a cop that's all i can say. i accel slow around cops and short shift. lol.

Just be glad yours doesn't come with $111 fine like my modified exhaust ticket did. I still haven't gotten the courtesy notice to schedule my court apperance. I'll be damned if I'll pay a $111 fine for a modified exhaust that some bored *** Fremont bike cop gave me.
i have all cats. and i have 4eat, so dont even go wot that often. i was pulled over right before dumbarton bridge, apparently there were many cops there last night. the officer even asked me to get out of my car, and listen to how quiet his exhaust was.

You can put anything on your car, but the citations are all up to the officer pulling you over. Here at the shop we have over 20 cops all good customers and they all say the same.
" What ever it is on your ride just be on the right place at the right moment and all is well. "
Now if that is your second citation, wise up and get another to eliminate the hassle.

my 2 cents
Gino
oh and my dad is a cop and he is not like those rice hating cops, he sticks to real police work

from HKS if you exhaust is 13 months old or younger you can get a STatement of Compliance faxed to you ater you fax them your receipt (as proof of the age of your exhaust). This statement shows that that HKS manufactured the exhaust to be in compliance with CVC 27150, 27151 and their applicable subsections.
Its not a legal document, mind you. But it guarantees that the manufacturer guarantees its compliance if its with in the time limits from the date of sale. I would suspect that if you have not modified ANYTHING ELSE on the exhaust, you could potentially get a refund/return from HKS and go buy a Borla Hush
But you know, HKS with cats is not that loud unless your running about 4500rpm. He musta been really bored.
