Freddy, you missed my point.

I am just saying that I ran 12.9 with 208hp.

You are saying now that you ran 13.0 with 260-something.

Nearly identical times, but you have 50 more whatever powers.

baahhh, autox is for girls. go to the REAL track (ie infineon, laguna seca, thunderhill) and bring back a lap time. then we'll talk.

I bet I could take Pavel. But I wouldn't want to be across from Mike. He's tall.

Q: "If Autocross were easier, what would they call it?"

A: "Road Racing"

There's more truth to that than you think . Personally, I find the "pace" of a road course to be sort of, well, "boring" compared to the non-stop thinking and reacting you have to do when autocrossing.

Well I think that all the numbers, to show what your car does, are important.
1/4 times, lap times, hp #'s, whp #'s, torgue #'s.....

I mean sheesh, people put a lot of money into their cars and want to know what they have...big deal. I know I learned a lot from my dyno runs...like the fact that my car was not tuned properly!!

If someone wants those numbers, it doesnt make them a baby, or a gril, or a *****!! They just want to see the reluts from there spendings. Now, if someone was going nutz and always bragging about their #'s ALL THE TIME....and it is a show car that mommy and daddy bought them, or they never drive.....we'll that's another story.

I have to disagree... numbers aren't for girls... well unless those girls own dynos.

Taking a car to the track is a poor, poor way to measure a cars ability. There's so much play in the ET and trap speed due to driver ability and how the car contacts and sends power to the road.

Now, while I realize its the driver and the car when it comes down to it when on the drag strip, road course, or street (wait, did I say street? um, just kidding ), but we're talking about raw mechanics. And when you're talking about raw mechanics you need a method of testing that throws out as many variables as possible. The biggest variables that I know of are you (pl.) and me.

Alex, your 12.9 could be from you having an excellently tuned car and being a crappy drag racer, or from you having a not-so-well tuned car and being an excellent drag racer. Most likely, you've got a good dose of all the necessary skills and hardware, so you do well. But you take your car, and someone else car to the same dyno. There you have undeniable proof.... we'll unless the variable human dyno operator botches the job

jason

p.s. At any rate, I'd say trapspeed is a far better indicator for the "drag strip dyno" than ET. Its hard to miss the gas pedal

I'd agree with that, except for AWD cars. They're easier to consistently launch. Plenty of 2WD cars post high traps speeds but consistently lose to 'slower' cars because of wheelspin and bogging.
