Everyone hates on my wheels...:(
I have to say do what ya like to be sure. Others have said it too and it's key. Otherwise you will be continually changing your style to fit whatever fools you tend to think has the current opinion to follow.
Me personally, I usually like black/polished wheels though usually only on specific colors. I am probably going to end up with some anthracite Rotas with a machined/polished lip on my 240z and if someone doesn't like it they can do what they like on theirs.
I used to drive a bright yellow '80 Celica coupe and I freaking loved that car. People would hate on it all the time but it never bothered me. Dunno. Who cares?? Usually people that "hate" on stuff are just jealous anyway. If they say calmly they they really don't like them - then hey, thanks for the opinion - it's worth what you paid for it.
Cannot resist though, as much as I don't like the spoiler and cars that are not mostly the same color, it all pales in comparison to my feelings about the stickers. Seriously, I probably won't have a 'ring sticker on my car even when I have actually driven the ring. Dunno why but it really lumps your car in with the "GT-R Sentras and Mustangs" etc. I think I saw a "Roush" Camaro the other day. Etc. Just dumb. All opinion of course. Worth what you paid for it.

IMO i would go without the lip, I always look at that as rice, but to each his own if you like keep them, I would lose the lip and go all black though, looks much cleaner
Agreed.
imo he already downgraded by ditching the factory BBS (which are awesome wheels, btw) for those. rotas are not nice, they're cheap knockoffs. there are many nice sets of wheels available that are an upgrade from the stock wheels, but they'll cost ya. a lot.
then invest in a nice set of rotas
