No $hit Brother.... you know what I get for my $6K per annum property tax in SF?
1. Streets with so many potholes that I've had to replace my front wheel bearings.
2. Public schools within wallking distance that I can't send my daughter to and therefore
have to place her in private school at an additional $6K a year.
3. Having to step over homless people on the way to work every evening.
4. A city that is forcing us to plant a tree in front of our house.
5. A DPT that charges $2.50 an hour to park on the freakin street and a $50 ticket as soon
as the expiration flag goes up.
That's what I'm getting for my $6K.

40% of your paycheck goes to the government, then after that, you pay sales tax on everything you buy, tax on stuff you own, and taxes when you die (you dont, but your family does on the stuff you leave behind). Sucks, but the alternative is the pokey with Bubba.
taxes suck. CA property taxes fall around the worse time ever, holidays and when income taxes are due. property taxes in other states kick in at different times of the year.
stan aka topcover, I'll take 6k private school over 12k preschool.

I don't think taxes suck. It's a necessity. What I hate is how the money is disributed and managed. So much waste, so many freakin' PROGRAMS aimed at people who abuse them. I won't bitczh about paying taxes if:
1. All of the schools were great schools and we didn't have to bus kids from one neighborhood to another. They'd be able to walk to school like we did when I was a kid.
2. We have a transit system that was safe to use at night and ran remotely on time.
3. We provided programs in the City that got the homeless off of the street, have them work on SF's infrastructure or contribute to the City's well being in return for food and shelter.
4. The City was a little more forward thinking and support mom and pop stores by reducing the amount of bull$hit taxation and bureaucracy needed to stay open. Support entrepenuers, that's what made America great.
That's all I want. Not too much to ask for from a simple tax paying, registered voter like me... right?
