What makes a Law Enforcement Officer an expert at radar detectors??? We're talking about folks that usually have less then an associates degree from a Junior College and have no clue as to how radar or laser works other then it helps them in issuing tickets. A blanket statement of the sort that "if it doesn't say Valentine on it, it's crap," is stupid and ignorant. As I have stated before the V1 is a great radar detector as is the 8500 and there have been numerous tests have born this out as has been pointed out by ipozestu. These test utilized a consistent methodology in a controlled environment to reach their results, this in stark contrast to incidental observations that the "several LEO" you know have made and the few customers that have swapped out brand X with a V1.

Please don't be an ignorant V1 fanboy and look at the facts:
Sometimes an Escort is better:

sometimes the V1 is better:

and yet other times the Bell is better:

So as I have state it comes down to user preference. You like the V1 better, fine, but it's ignorant at best, downright stupid at worst, to state: if it doesn't say Valentine on it, it's crap

Earlier model 8500's had this defect and Escort will repair or replace your unit free of charge, current units do not exhibit this problem.

Daniel,
Same thing happened with mine.. i fixed it by holding down the two buttons to enter program mode or w/e and turning off "laser" for about a week... then turned it back on and it NEVER gave me the false alarm again

Not to mention Valentine's are durabile. I know of one case where a subaru flipped over several times and the valentine became a small projecticle hitting(cutting open the persons head) and it still worked!! Let's see your piece of **** other radar detectors do that in your "controlled" environment!:sign0149:

Whoa there, son, no need for the personal attacks.
Let's keep this civil before **** gets ugly.

BTW, I'll let you tell us what cliche best describes the bolded text above.

And please, before posting up tomorrow, switch to decaf.
Have a lovely day.

Damn Mike Valenitne has a ton of ignorant fan boys. So a V1 cutting open someones head and still working makes it the superior radar detector??? Ok. I'm not saying the V1 is a bad detector, simply that there are other options that are just as good, if not better, then the V1.
