escort Passport 8500 X50 radar freaking out??
I have the escort Passport 8500 X50 radar and every time i give my car a little gas it freaks out and says LASER! i know its not a cop i tested it on total back roads. has anyone else had a problem like this or know what it could be??
You I have it hard wired I presume? The vampire terminal used get loose sometimes. I suggest removing the damn thing entirely, splicing and soldering into it. It won't happen again.

Mine used to do the same damn thing! Drove me nuts for a month or so. Then it would stop and start back up at random. I threw that b_tch out.
There are plenty of sources available online that were conducted by different sources that matched the V1, Bel STi, Bel RX-65 Pro, Escort x50. Test results showed that the V1 did excell in many categories, while the other detectors mentioned performed equally as well and in some cases better with less false alarms.

From what I have read, there are a lot of bugs in the 9500. I replaced my original 8500 with a Beltronics RX-65 Pro. So far I have very happy with it. You best bet, X50, STi, RX-65 Pro, V1. All of those detectors will perform very well. They are all the top of the line. You get what you pay for.
The Escorts are very sensative to voltage variations. When I sent mine out for cal I asked them about this(same problem your having), they said they could fix it.

That's just stupid.
Both Escort and Valenite make a damn fine product, it boils down to user preference as to which unit is superior. I for one love my Escort SRX, it's priceless to see cops who use LIDAR (laser) confounded as they fail to get a reading of my speed.
As was mentioned by ipozestu the early 8500's were very sensitive to voltage drops, and if a voltage drop occurred they would false laser. You have three solutions: first turn off laser detection on your radar. Second, check your charging system to make sure somethings not out of whack. Finally , your best option, contact Escort and they will be able to fix your unit.

Hmmm...
I know several LEOs that work in different parts of the state and they all say the V1 is the best. I have sveral customers that have replaced Brand X detector with a V1.
Why pay for a product that obviously has a design/manufacturing defect?
But what does my stupid @ss know.....
