I'm sure its not the same car... but how many white 510s do you see around? My friend sold his '72 which he had recently painted white, this was some years back. It had blue racing seats inside and panasports for wheels. It wasn L20 bored out to 2.2, all beefed up internals with makunis, and straight pipe. The last time we got to run it was at Sears Point in like '99 (when it was still officially called that) and he was hitting solid 14s. He had a very short rearend on it and and he was topping out at around 85-90mph, but punch the gas at 60mph in 5th gear and the thing could keep up with just about anything.... for 5 or 6 seconds.

My first 510 was alot like that same engine and dual .44 makuni's, but it had the full disk brake conversion and a subaru LSD in the rear. The body was PERFECT, and when i bought the car there was no interior, and all the electrical wiring was done up with household twist connectors. But once the ghetto workmanship was taken care of the car FLEW. It was hilarious how fast it was off the line, i remember just sitting there, burning out. Sadly a guy in a beretta totalled it - and with the insurance money from having my arms taken out of their sockets and stripped of their cartilage, i bought a subaru outback...which is why I am here now.

Anyways, i bought this car for cheap with the intention of fixing it up, but i live in san fransisco, and the car is at my freinds house in auburn (stankfootz) - so its hard to get up to do things on it. He is in the process of selling his amazing 510 wagon with a VG30 conversion. That car is amazing, just sorta impractical for auburn.

I would love to own one of these...super rare!
The more agressively sloped rar window totally changes the body.. Awesome car. I need to track down that pic...

My G/F's dad when I lived in the UK had a Bluebird and it was basically a Stanza with that horrible POS 1.8L Turbo lump. Ugh.

Bah, you got no class! Where's your sense of heritage!!!??? These cars are the ORIGINAL japanese sports sedans (in america) - these things were making fools of camaros on the racetrack when your dad was a kid, 510's literally opened the door for our current japanese import performance market.
They are ugly little bastards, but because of that they rock. They are like the subies - cheap, ugly, reliable, and faster than ****.

haha love 'em or hate 'em, ugly, funky, or whatever, the BMW 2002 created the sport sedan class of cars in the U.S., and the Datsun 510 that copied it did the same for japanese cars...

(first pic below is an '02 tearing it up at the Nurburgring)

The 2002, 510, and alfa GTV pretty much are the forefathers of our scene - you gotta love 'em.

I saw one of those in San Jose yesterday. Amazing.

I was gonna try and get one...looked for days. But most of the ones I was interested in were just overpriced. So on sunday I made a deal on a different sort of beast. 53 caddy.

Im lucky to have an EDM Nissan Primera 2.0eGT P10. It sits In a garage in in Greece wating for me to take her out in the summer. If I dont see a Blue top vvL under the hood or at least a Red top (like my car) I can't say It interests me. Even an SSS needs some SR20 love. My dream is to bring it over here one day and get it race prepped for road course. Then buy a G20 in the same charcoal grey, get it registered and just put the plates and vin card on my Nissan. It could work?!?!
