EQ Tuning News and Updates!
#121
Here's another one of our bigger builds. We just delivered this one to the customer in Reno this weekend and laid down a nice high altitude tune on the brand new motor/setup .
Here's the setups:
05 STI:
- EQ Tuning Stage 1 Shortblock (CP Pistons, ACL Race Series Bearings, OEM Forged STI Rods, Balanced/Polished OEM STI Crank, Balanced & Blueprinted to our strict specs)
- EQ Tuning Mild Built Heads (BC Stage 2 Cams, BC Titanium Springs/Retainers, 5 Angle Valve-Job, Mild P&P)
- EQ Tuning Prototype Split Pulse Header/Uppipe
- ATP Stock Location 35R w/ Integrated Tial 44mm EWG (dumped back into DP)
- TurboXS FMIC
- EQ Tuning Blow-Through MAF Kit for TurboXS/SSAC FMIC
- EQ Tuning Short Ram Intake Kit for Blow-Through Application
- Greddy Type RS BOV
- Invidia Catless Downpipe w/ custom flex EWG dump tube
- Invidia Catback
- EQ Tuning Baffled Oil Catch Can
- Deatschwerks 850cc Injectors
- Perrin Fuel Rails
- Custom Oil Cooler
- Coolingmist Water/Meth Injection modified with all braided lines, S-HSV, and different spray nozzle
- Grimmspeed Phenolic Spacers
- Hallman Pro RX MBC
- RPS Max Series Clutch / ACT Streetlight Flyhweel
Here is the graph from the high elevation tune:
This tune was done with Cobb AP at over 5,000 feet elevation on 91 Octane and 50/50 water/meth. Boost was kept at 24psi peak as the motor is still breaking in .
The power we got at this elevation is really impressive but the lag was a bit more than I expected. We do have the car revving out to 7500RPM now which makes for very little lag between gears. Everything is MUCH laggier up at this elevation, so I'll reserve judgment until we get to tune this car down at sea level on some race gas. 30psi+ and 8k RPM should really wake this one up!
Thanks

365whp on 91 Octane on a 7cm FP Green!! Too bad the turbo only lasted through the tune. I can't wait to see your car back here with a fresh turbo and see what it can really do. I can't believe how much air that setup is flowing at only 20psi!

thanks ed you guys did a great job and thanks to you and adam for putting up with me too. and big thanks to chris for looking at my car when the turbo went out. I sent the turbo out today and will get it back next week with the HTA upgrade hope to see what a few more pounds of boost will do and the upgrade turbo will make.

This car has:
- EQ stage 1 shortblock (CP Pistons, ACL Bearings, Balanced/Blueprinted)
- EQ Stage 2 heads (BC Stage 2 Cams, Titanium retainers/springs, 5-angle valve job, mild P&P/bowl blend)
- FP Green (7cm, 2.4" inlet)
- Grimmspeed EWG UP
- APS FMIC / APS 70mm CAI
- Catless TBE
- Walbro
- DW 750cc Injectors
- Hallman MBC
- Tuned with Cobb AP V2
I'll post the dyno chart when we finalize the tune with a fresh turbo. It should be interesting to see how much more we can get out of the HTA wheel upgrade. 365whp on straight 91 is already crazy, so anything above that will really make me happy
Phil, if the HTA does end up flowing significantly more air, we might need to bump up the fuel injectors to 850's. We were already around 93% IDC on the 750's!
Thanks
