Electric Exhaust Cut-out placement question...

Just wondering which is better, before the cat or after the cat? On a 05 Wrx with stock turbo & exhaust. Your advice and thoughts are welcomed thx guys.

Would putting it before the car throw a CEL? I can't remember if Subaru has a post cat O2 sensor

I just had my exhaust cutout done, if you want a sick setup check out Fine Line Imports under "showroom" and check out exhaust cutout's! You want it before the cats for sure. On stock exhaust I would think the downpipe would be best place.

Why is it better to have it before the cat? Doesn't that mean its before the sensor as well?

because its pointless to have a cutout and still be restricted by a cat!

Exactly.........Unless your motive is purely for sound than it doesnt matter. But if you goal is power than you want it before any restrictions in the exhaust.

Yeah, I see no point in putting it on after the cat, unless you really just want a loud car. Catback exhaust does almost nothing to increase the power of your car, so putting it before the cat only seems logical. Your 05 should have 3 cats all together.

putting it before the secondary 02 doesnt throw a cel but then again i have a spacer adapter for it. placement only has to do with wherever you wont scrape it. thats what killed my cutout when it fell off on the freeway one day :P

I'm about 80% sure that a pre-cat cutout will throw a CEL if you don't have a ECM reflash

Your money is better spent on a Catted Downpipe of better yet an Accessport
