Ej20t measurements?
Hey guys,
I'm scheming for a pretty gnarly drop, super dirty, too hot for television drop. Gotboost may have an idea of what i'm thinking.
However, it all depends on 2 or 3 measurements, 2 being -
How wide is the ej20?
In inches, how far does the ej20t sit over the front axle?
If those few things are within my limits, I may have myself a goddamned rocketship.
I've searched GIS and the gallery here looking for a picture of an ej20 from the side with transmission attached, but no luck. Anyone have any spare photos from any swaps they did?
Any info will be appreciated.

Ian....shame on you! you cant steal my secret project away from me! its my idear....MINE, ALL MINE DAMMIT! :-P
Now that that is out of the way, I will say this.....after taking some VERY PRELIMINARY measurements....I have found that the rough width of the EJ20 is about 33"-34" wide (and 26-28" front to back for just the block) IIRC, and the width between the shock towers is about 30". Hence the need for a full tube front clip, shock towers will have to be moved significantly to make room. Secondly....IF you are thinking what I am thinking......punk......then the engine will have to sit WAY too far forward in the engine bay to make the "front function" properly, and there will be no room for the radiator. You may even need to lengthen the whole front end of the car. just so things line up correctly. Not to mention the need for custom 1/2 shafts to be fabbed up, since the track width of the subaru is about 56", while the "other car" is about 50" IIRC. (I have been doing A TON of research on this particular subject.)
So, Ian......now I'm curious....PM me what your thinking.

Hhahaha, well, thanks to your groundwork, I think i'll abandon that idea. I was just sitting around thinkin...hmm, if i'm going to do this, might as well go all the way. Have you ever thought about a transverse sr20det from the pulsar gti-r? I think you'd run into some width problems as well. But AWD? It would be the fastest goddamn car ever.
Oh, but what about just converting it to RWD? Then you could mount the engine in a more resonable spot - and just cut out the section of the shock tower and tube that up?
Oh well, looks like i'll stay with the f20c, hahah, so dont worry ted - I wont steal your thunder

LMAO! hahahahaha! yea, I know what you mean! I havent really thought about THAT swap, but I bet it would be a shoehorn type deal as well. LOL Some of the "other" swaps I took into consideration were an SRT-4 Motor, EVO 8 motor, or a new 06-07? Civic SI (coupe) motor all of which will give mad amounts of power, and shouldn't have any fitment issues (width wise).
However, after much deliberation, I have decided that this (see quote below) is the way I am going to go. Still gotta do the Tube Framing.....but dont have to elongate the entire nose of the car.....should be a fairly straight forward swap (with exception of the tube Fab work, and shock tower relocation) But the rear suspension and differential will bolt right up. My newest vision though, will be to tub the rearend slightly, so I can stuff some 255-265's back there and keep the front with something like 225-235s. Oh man, I am making myself drool all over just thinking about it.
