I'm sorry, MPJ did mine because Gruppe-s was busy - I don't recall what it cost me, but it wasn't bad....maybe 1 hour of labor?

clamp on type probes require drilling. A much smaller hole than the weld on type and requires no welding. I have one on my nsr 250 from a used go kart kit I bought on ebay 2 years ago. The probe didn't work so I never got to see it work. Not sure on how you would check the egt without actually being in the flow. If F1 still have probes that require drilling then I don't think it would be reliable if it existed.

I have never used a clamp on, just see 'em advertised.

I can't comment on the reliability - I only see them advertised esp for aviation products. I don't see why you couldn't calibrate a clamp on to respond to reality. Avionics stuff has to pass FAA approval, not easy so they must be doing something that works relatively well.

Those aviation ones require you to tap the temp source but don't require welding a bung. Of course they are reliable for a given amount of time. You mentioned in a previous post that these don't tap the stream of the exhaust gas but they do.

I meant reliabilty and accuracy on ones that calculate temp from outside the manifold if they even exist.
