ECU Question

ECU Question

So i get a check engine light once a month and i know the reason. i have a 06 Legacy spec b. How can i reset the light without going to the dealer.?

Disconnect the negative battery terminal then press the brake pedal a few times.

or get an AP odb2 cable and use EcuExplorer.

actually you can just get regular OBDII/USB cables for about $80. The APv1 cable needs a usb-serial converter (unless you have a laptop old enough to still have a serial port) and the APv2 cables, while they are usb, there is no driver available for them and they are NOT similar to the generic ones

oh, and whats the reason?

i replaced the factory cat with a highflow cat and hence i put a spacer over the O2 sensor. sometimes when i punch it the engine light comes on.

i just saw kragen has a OBDII scanner for sale for $59. the super simple one that only reads the code and clears it. but doesn't decode it for you (I think). but you can always look that up if you care but sounds like you already know what you are getting.
