Eating cheaply

AKA the "I need money for mods" thread lol. Share tips of good eats and filling up those calories, preferably in a healthy way.

I'll start on what I was doing for abit but then got sick of it. Someone's gotta have better ideas than me:

Bagels, milk, and chicken, and rice.
Pasta is easy and cheap to make too.

All joking aside I actually want some ideas for frugality. Easy to make meals, with good mix of carbs and protein.

Particularly protein. Pasta and bread products are cheap but that's all carb...

well.................always make sure that you cook your food instead of eating out. There are great recipies for tuna on the internet. fried rice is always good. You can also make a lot of stuff from potatos.

Canned tuna & chicken from costco kick ***. Also, canned fruits and vegetables aren't very expensive either.

I'm no cook, but it's a means of saving money, hehe.

For protein...

Buy meat (steak, pork, chicken) in bulk from Costco.
Freeze meat.
Thaw on day of consumption.

99 Cents Only store. Buy fresh or canned vegetables you can find, then random spices. You're good to go. I shop at the one by my house all the time.

I used to live very cheaply 4-5 yrs ago when I was broke all the time. I primarily ate:

Soup (lipton or generic)
Salad with croutons
Potatoes
OJ

Those above items are dirt cheap (esp on sale) and satisfying (healthy too)

Buying ground beef in bulk and then freezing small portions lasts a long time also.

Also, if you are truly trying to live cheaply, dont eat out (ever!) and avoid starbucks and such.

I have starbucks nearly every day and it adds up...but I love it

yah the 3 lb salad pack at Costco is really cheap. Like $1.80 cheap, buy that with the salad dressing (2 bottles for like $7).

For protein they have turkey burgers for $10. They're pretty good and retain juiciness even when u grill them.
