East Bay Recycling or Disposal Centers for VHS, CD-R's, DVD-R's etc?
I just cleared out a lot of clutter from my room from random crap that I've kept over the years. I have a bunch of old VHS tapes I used to record basketball games, TV shows, and anime fansubs. I have no use for these since 1) I don't have a VCR anymore 2) Most of the TV shows, I have on DVD now or I see reruns everyday on TV. I also got stacks of random CD-R's and DVD-R's that are coastered or crap that I just burned and still have no use for now.
I don't wanna just throw these in the trash cuz it's bad for the environment (in b4 "go hug a tree, hippie"). Is there a place to get rid of this crap? I'm sure there's plenty of people who have the same junk as I do taking up space. My bed room's not big, so I need to get rid of this crap ASAP. TIA.
Oh, I also have a couple old DVD players that still work if anyone wants me to bring 'em to UCKK tonight or the XLL meet at Milpitas. I don't want 'em. Haha.

Thanks for the replies! I think this'll help anyone else locally who needs to get rid of stuff too. Anyone know where I can get rid of old VHS tapes as well?

it is now illegal to dump them in the trash...
call your local trash pickup provider and see if they collect them. it's the mercury in the tubes, IIRC...

Okay, so I've figured out where to get rid of most of this stuff cuz there's a recycling center I found in Oakland that's free. http://www.unwaste.com
Now, I don't know what to do with the large stacks of old VHS tapes. Everyone uses DVD's now, so I'm sure there's more people on the same boat as I.
