Dyno graphs. VF22 tuned by EQ. Mustang dyno. Ya'll wanted 'em, here they are!

Swung by EIP in San Jose today. The owner wanted to see the capabilities of the EcuTek software and let me get on the dyno free of charge. I didn't even know about this place!!!... they've got an AWD Mustang Dyno setup, a super cool Japanese dude doing the tuning , couple lifts, etc. They do a lot of VW/Audi stuff and some DSM/Evo. The owner has tuned a couple Subaru's with Utec and AEM and wants to start doing more... he had dyno plots from dozens of 'em... crazy.

Paul (owner) said a stock STI makes ~ 210 and stock WRX like ~ 150/155. Pretty much identical to Gruppe-S, IIRC.

His wideband was on the fritz, so Ed used his own and the logs are on his laptop. He's gone for the long weekend though so they wont be up until Monday I don't think. They're nearly identical to before though and some of you have already seen that plot....

Anyway, here's the graph: The run that these graphs are from was the third run in a back-2-back set. The car was HOT. The only thing I didn't like about this place was small fans... which he's upgrading soon apparently. There was one TINY fan on the radiator and one on the intercoooler. Thank god for the cold thermostat... max coolant temps got WAY higher than they ever have on the street before. The most I have ever logged on the street on a really hot day during pulls is ~ 176. I saw 208 today.... yikes.

The car was consistent though. The JDM top mount never heat soaked. The HP stayed pretty steady on the back-2-back runs... the torque dropped with the heat. I saw as much as 5 ft-lbs more on other runs and 3 ft-lbs less on a couple runs...

Close-up:

Spooling really well for a VF22 and making sick power! The torque curve just kills me .

I can't wait to play around tonight when it's cold... it was 86* according to the Mustang when I was on it...

So... any questions feel free to post them up. I think it speaks for itself.

Engine mods are:

Deadbolt VF22
JDM STI top mount
STI pinks
MadDad ceramic coated headers
Perrin EBCS
TGV deletes
Heatwrapped Perrin downpipe
Custom POS crush-bent 3" catback
NGK one range colder copper plugs
Crucial Racing CoolSafe Thermostat
GP Moto inlet hose
ITG panel filter in the stock box w/ no silencer

^^^ think that's it ^^^

Why thank you Dre . The car feels reallly good. I'm glad to have brakes that can handle it now, lol...

Oh btw -- Ed made a point to let me know that the car is tuned very safely still. He was by no means pushing it. We didn't see a single instance of knock all day. The ECU corrections for temperature and whatnot are "very conservative".... so I should still expect a good kick in the pants when it cools down outside

2. Where is the the configuration information as seen below? You know the important stuff like weight used on the dyno, and hp@50mph (important setting for scaling of hp vs speed on a mustang dyno)

I am assuming you just cut them out because you thought it was taking up space on the image.

Nice numbers. My STi is at 263hp@5750/271ft-lbs@3500 with just a turboback, ebc and utec tune from gruppe-s.

Seems like Ed's road tune is off on the torque readings by a huge margin, but the hp is pretty spot on. Does the car still look stock? If so, nice sleeper.

Dre what is the difference if the hp@50 number is higher or lower? say it is 10.5 or 12.5?

I think by his screen name and by what it says on the dyno he's only running a 2.0L Turbo, while you have the extra .5 L backing your torque up. IMHO comparing the EJ257 vs the EJ20 is kinda like comparing apples to oranges because that extra .5 L can do quite a bit.

the lower the number the lower the horsepower is going to end up being..

so the higher it is set to the higher it will end up being..

think of that as a variable in the formula that is being used to get to the horsepower numbers..

IE if you put a higher number in there it will scew the results higher.

think it runs 14.1 out of mustangs manuals.. I may be wrong been a while..

Would also be curious to see if they are using weather correction or not which would also effect the numbers.

so many variables...

regardless its a purtty curve (which is what counts vs peak numbers)

just want to clear up some things that i saw were missing is all. Im sure he has what i am asking about, just curious as to why it wasnt posted orginaly (prob to save space like i said?)

lets give him the benefit of the doubt... maybe he removed that section because to the left of the dyno settings are personal information about the car (name, license plate, description of mods).

did you have the perrin EBCS before it was tuned or was that part of the tuning? is it configured to operate in the same manner as the subaru boost control or is it operating like a EBC?

yeah i am giving him that hence the wait till he can post

most likely an oversight, just curious is all as we all know how dyno settings go...

STIownsEVO- I wasn't trying to compare my readings. The extra displacement does provide an even better torque curve though.
Was just trying to say that his road tuned readings for torque was 280 ft-lbs but on the dyno it is 250. The hp readings from road dyno to mustang dyno was pretty close.

Actually maybe I was looking at someone elses road tune. maybe I am thinking of someone else.
