Metal fabricators use ice cold water to cool off burning hot pipes after they are finished with their product. I think you should be fine.

IC water spray actually heat soaks the intercooler, when used on a cold day or when already in motion

I have used both dry ice and big bag of ice,

the big bag of ice works much much better

dry ice evaporate too fast, b4 I staged on the drag strip my intercooler is frozen I'm talking about fully covered, I used 3 brick size dry ice, but after 1 past the intercooler is hot again

but with the big bag of ice, the intercooler was wet and cold, even after 1 pass, but tech crew didn't like water dripping on the drag strip sucks

IS there are reason not to put dry ice in the I/C sprayer tank?

It will take a bit for the pump to draw the water all the way from the trunk to the IC, ice would be better.

If you stop moving air into the scoop, then yes.

Water (ice) should work better than dry ice because of water's ability to conduct and release heat. Water evaporating in to steam is what carries a lot of heat into the air. While dry ice is colder it doesn't absorb heat as readily or as effectively. I'll find the maths when I'm a little less tired and a little less drunk.

Putting something as cold as dry ice on a heat soaked intercooler isn't exactly good for the aluminum but the risks are pretty marginal. Again, numbers and maths to follow in the morning...maybe afternoon.

I can't see adding dry ice to the IC sprayer tank being much more effective than adding regular ice. The CO2 gas released from the warming dry ice doesn't seem particularly nice either.

In the winter, its ice cold. I've seen it done thousands of times. The difference in temp though between 80 degree water and 33 degree water when you're considering a piece of steel thats 1000s of degrees is pretty negligible though.
