Angry Drum roll please!

put me down for my second accident in just one season please!

I got rear ended today coming back from work by a young kid in a old pontiac at about 10mph. The damage isn't bad at all but it's still going to cost his insurance a pretty penny.

My bumper has some structural damage with some paint damage.
My license plate, frame and mounting portion for the rear plate is caved in a bit.
And i also claimed my new Borla Hush just to be safe.

I got home and put the car on the ramps to check everything out and the ^above^ is what i found. Here's what gets me though.... my horn doesn't work!? i checked all the fuses and relay for the supertones and nothing works when i press the horn or after i use the keyless entry. could this be because of a false airbag deployment? Someone fill me in on what to check.

thanks, eric

That sucks man, at least it isn't your fault.

I have no idea about the horn. It happened to me when I-Speed put my new clutch in, and then it just randomly started working again one day.

hey eric, sorry to hear that, i hope everything goes well with insurance

but i was wondering for instance, if i was in your position, rear ended but with aftermarket exhaust, would the others party be liable for that cost too? i dont have a receipt for it because i bought it used...thanks

Does it work when you press the buttons on the steering wheel? If so then I wouldnt worry about it. We thought it was a fried wire, but then when it started working I never thought twice about it.

Not sure about what happens without proof of purchase... im assuming you can get away with it depending on which bodyshop you decide to use and if they catch it. There's doesn't seem to be any damage on my exhaust... i just claimed it to be safe. good thing i have my receipt still.

Try moving the wires around the horn to see if they just got knocked loose.

As long as you have the exhaust you should be ok. Besides, stock exhausts are very, very expensive. If the car is not totalled you should have no problem getting the same aftermarket exhaust.

Nope just get the 'clicking' noise and likewise with the keyless entry. Im hoping someone can tell me that i triggered some type of airbag sensor in the rear bumper...that's really all i can come up with!?

Hmm..that could be a problem. I had that problem with my volvo, I took it to my mechanic and he either adjusted a wire or tightened a screw and it worked again. Might want to check out the screws on the horn itself.

Do you have a voltmeter to check for power at the relay when you hit your keyless entry or the horn button? Check the two terminals that go from the relay to the Supertones. Where is the clicking noise coming from? The relay?

Wow that sucks. Glad to hear you're okay though. So wait, we can claim insurance on aftermarket parts? Could someone clarify for me?

you and i have some crappy luck Matt! Some people don't run into any problems or accidents for the life of their cars.

Anywho: I don't have a voltmeter but the clicking noise is coming from the stock relay in the fuse box when i hit the button or the keyless entry. You pull out the OEM relay and hit the buttons and nothing happens.
