Drove the new 2008 STI

WOW... AMAZING

One of my good fiends just got white sti for christmas. He came over my house reving the **** out of the motor. I have to say i realy like the new body. This car handles and drive like nothing i have driven. Interior is luxury NO NAV. He did not get the optional bbs. I prefer the regular sti rims that comes with it. It has a meaner look and is gunmetal. Payed 37,750+ tax.. 41k otd. But man their is no other car that i would buy. NEW sti is just a diffrent beast.. TRULY AMZING.. look and power.. I realy did not wanted to drive my 06 rex after. It felt cheap and slow...LOL i love my rex but i love the sti more..

I'd definitely get a "spare" luxury car for the weekends. =D

If you don't mind me asking- which ones?

Because I can't think of any.

seriously, maybe a few in the 60-80 range, but not much under 50G has any appeal for me at all.

Except the new STI

man, since when was 41k acceptable for a subaru? why would anyone spend that much money on a japanese car with a crappy interior.

id much rather have a bmw or some luxury car.

OR

get a used sti/evo and have money to spare to make it way better than a 08

I sat inside the new 08' and.... well I prefer my 07'. I thought the new interior was so much more cheaply done than previous years and def not worth 41k. For 41k I would have gone for a 135i. But hey congrats to your friend.

i would rather get an STI then the BMW or whatever you can get for that price range just because I am a Subaru enthusis. Wait.. isn't that why we are all here? This is a subaru forum and not a BMW one. Yes the car is over priced and it might not be worth it, but what can you do? Apparently, it's worth it to some people since a lot of people are getting one.

OK, so he paid +2K over MSRP ~ ($35,640.00) That is the base model...

But, I agree with the fact that it is 'mean ***' in person. I just wouldn't want the heavy wheels and would pop for the BBS package (or choose your own favorite LW Forged rim).

I too would get the base model rims. I don't know the BBS rims are just not all that.

DUDE lol what's up with the HATE for this guy and his '08?

When the e36 m3 came out people thought it was ugly compared to the e30. Then the e46 comes out and the e36 suddenly becomes the golden boy

I have a feeling a lot of you haven't been around/ridden in/drove the new STI in person. Because it's like all new cars (like new M5, E92 M3, C6 corvette) - everyone thinks it's butt ugly and says "the older model is far better" but the truth is when you walk up to it in person you go "man this is new, awesome" and your consumer instinct to want new things kick in.

A few years down the line when the 2012 STI comes out all y'all be saying "man the new '12 is so ugly! Why can't they style it hot like the '08?"

Anyways for 41k OTD man I'd be hard pressed - I'd probably spend another 5k OTD and get a base Z51 optioned corvette though if I wanted speed. They usually go for around 46k OTD w/ Z51 at year's end.

Also think about what kind of exclusivity you can buy for 41k OTD. Some people mentioned G37 or BMW 135i but those are really going to be common cars.

Sure the STI is mass produced as well but it's the top of the line subaru, and it's a pretty unique looking car out there. You get a G37 it's just like all the other infinitis every Asian professional male in his 20's buys. You get a 135i you're still at the bottom of the BMW pecking order.

If I could afford it, I'd buy an STi.
