hey Bushido.
Bub... I have the Passport 8500 and I get the same thing from time to time.
The radar needs to be recalibrated. Unplug it and drive without it for some time and it won't jump on LASER like before.

Radar detectors are legal, radar jammers are not. Think twice about getting caught.

this still doesnt compute logically, to make sense that would mean there were some sort of hidden laser equipment we have never heard of before that was set up over night thoughout every area of Marin that is not speed but RPM(???) activated. I dont think that makes much sense.

Your detector is crap. Or your wiring job on it is crap.

Your explanation demands a low flying police UFO monitoring all the cars in Marin at the same time.

Well, I finally coughed up $50 for a cheap-a$$ Radio Shack radar detector last week, and it has seen two road trips across Marin Co. to SoCal since then. I've noticed that all kinds of things set off the radar warnings (lotsa falsing, I'm sure), but I have yet to see the laser warning go off once. Are you sure there's nothing wrong with your detector or the wiring, Rich?

Is it possible that you're in traffic with a newer Lexus/Infiniti/Mercedes with a laser range-finding cruise control systems? I have V1 and constantly get laser hits when I'm passing or in front of one of them.

Well guys, for the first time all week on the way home the "detector" didn't go off.

So hopefully it was like what some of you guys said.

If it starts happening again i'll have the thing looked at.
