Is drinking one large bottle of vodka a month = alcoholic?

Lets say I drink a large bottle of vodka per month with no other alcohol, does that make me an alcoholic?

(My friends were trippin on a bottle per month and laughed at them and said it was nothing, yet they still think I should drink less... It was like the twilight zone)

I freeze it and use high quality vodka... Its nice to have a small shot right before dinner.

The bottle is prolly like 30oz and I don't even drink it every day, just a shot here and there because its cold and refreshing... I don't even get a buzz off of it, if anything it increases my appetite though.

When my friends (who are straight edge) said that I was like " " you gotta be kidding!?

In my home country its tradition to take a small shot before you eat dinner, its just what we do... I dont drink to get drunk or even buzzed... 30 oz bottle 1oz a day.

How big a bottle?

I'd side with RU-X, it isn't the amount so much as the motivation-

Are you having a shot every morning before going to work? or are you having one or two just at the end of the day?

Your history should factor in too, if you used to put down a fifth a night (like silverbullets friends- yikes!) but now have mellowed out to where those 3-4 shots over the course of the day do the trick, that is not uncommon among alcoholics.

I think the real test comes down to can you put it down, go totally dry for a week or two without getting psychotic- if so then I'd say you shouldn't have too much to worry about, but like i was saying, if its a morning noon and night thing to get through each and every day, you might want to look into some counseling...

I would say that having a shot before dinner is not a problem, although different people's metabolism handle alcohol differently, but I wouldn't stress out about that level of consumption.

ah yeah thats nothing, I used to by a bottle of goose a week. My lady would help me with it though. Sometimes I would kill half a bottle in a weekend. I started thinking I had a problem so I started taking it easy on that.

More than 2 drinks a night=possible alcohol abuse

There are other things that play into being an alcoholic though

I don't see how you could put a number on alcoholism. 2 drinks is nothing, now if those two drinks cause you to be hungover and smelling like booze at work, that causes you to lose your job....thats a problem.
