I am heavily considering boycotting Christmas gifts this year and giving something I can make (food, cards, etc.) or a raincheck until after New Years.

And by the look of things, I won't be alone (either by choice or from this mess).

...That's not a bad idea...by December there is no telling how many people who are living paycheck to paycheck now are either going to be homeless or unable to afford food.

something my wife was just saying. alot of people are hard to get to donate because they themselves are not doign that great. alot of people are living without electricity becuase they cant afford to pay their pg&e bill. rent and food thats all they can afford. a lot of the pantries and soup kitchens are nto able to stay open becuase they just dont have the donations to keep going anymore.

I usually work construction and i had jobs lined up til 2010 and then all of the sudden all of these people started pulling out before signing contracts. To some people spending $50,000 on a bathroom right now just isnt a great idea you know.

I think I am going to invest in a dairy cow. If everythign goes to **** I will still have milk. and if the cow pops out a calf and its female more milk and i can make money, trade for gas, whatever the economic situation tends to be at the time. if it pops out a male calf i guess i will be eating some veal. w00t!

Dude...they eat a ridiculous amount of food. Like its almost unfathomable.

You literally need about half an acre of corn to feed a cow year round.

And I ain't even going to get into waste management. Trust me, you're better off drinking water and eating the corn.
