Best thing to do? Be a puppy raiser. Its ****ing rad. It's definitely the best way to have a dog. Free food, free vet care, take the dog everywhere And in the very very likely ever they get failed from their program (40% chance they will fail) you get them back. Plus you get self righteous satisfaction from doing something generally good for humanity.

^ My best friend in high school did that and I am raising my dog with a slant towards being a therapy dog, just because my sister has MS which in turn raises the chances of me having it.
