So we have a lab pup that's gonna have it's second round of vaccinations soon. I'd like to get her and us in some training.
recommendations, preferably in the south bay.

Its not a reinforcement tool - its an association tool. How it works is you tell them to do something and give them a treat (I usually just give them a piece of their regular food, its a treat to them) and click the clicker while they eat it so they come to associate the treat with the click and the click with the command.
Once they become pros (1 click sit, 2 click lay down, 3 click come etc) you wean them off the clicker and onto your voice commands.
Far as Petco goes - probably but you'll spend $20. My recommendation - Amazon.com

Look for a positive reinforcement trainer. That's the most effective method.

I got some basic training for my dog and PetSmart in San Mateo. I had fun doing it too...but it all depends on the trainer. I've seen some PetSmart dog trainers that were only so-so. They will teach you with the clicker if you'd like to do that (they do sell them there). I didn't bother. They taught me some interesting stuff..like never say "bad dog" or use to not use their names when they are doing something bad. It's all about positive reinforcement really. Most of it comes from you working with your dog at home. Just keep in mind that YOU are the alpha...not him (or her)...so many people have crazy non disciplined dogs because of this. Don't spoil your dog just cuz he's/she's cute. Good luck with your puppy, you will have so much fun!
It'd be kinda cool to have an i-club dog meet at like a park or something...

awww don't yell at your dog...that's not good =( Just reward him when he's doing something good...whatever is opposite of what he's doing thats bad haha

Do you want to train the dog yourself in classes, or are you looking to board the dog. The classes are great if you have the time, but it takes awhile. I did this with my German Shepherd and we just learned the basics. If you do classes, I would recommend also getting yourself a good book, and do a lot of the training yourself. Classes didn't do as much as I had liked, so I am doing a boarding training in Petaluma soon. Its a week long, during which time I am going to Kauai!!
EDIT: Also, at around 6-8 months, a lot of dogs go through their adolescence, and despite their training, it seems as though they will do whatever they can to do the exact opposite of what you are asking them to do. Its not that they don't know what you are saying to them, they just don't give a ****. My pup is going through that right now!

It's gonna be a couple more weeks till she can leave her momma. Boston Terrier pup. We are really new at this but so excited as we have been looking for a pup for a while, and missed out on a few (through friends of friends). Really interested in training, and once it's cool - having her play with different dogs so she is cool around company.
