Yes, you should be fine w/ stock mixture in California(I don't know exactly what they put in the factory). If you go to Utah, I would say you want a 50/50 mixture, but we rarely get under 0 degrees(that's Fahrenheit) in Cali.

You'll be fine, just drive slow. I didn't the first time I hit snow, it was in the WRX with RE92s, and as soon as it hit ice I slid 5mph into a snowdrift. No damage except a small fender dent, gotta say that's a small price to pay to learn

How well do they clear the roads in the Tahoe area? I'm thinking of going there in a bit but I've never been before. I lived in northern NY for a few years and was perfectly fine going at or near the speed limit in all but the snowiest conditions. I've never used chains. This was on starting to bald out RE92s, now I have 950s.
Plus there was almost zero mountains where I drove.

they are pretty good at clearing the roads. i would definitely take it very slow since hills AND snow comibined are a little dangerous with tires that are balding. i dont know if i would even go if you dont have a descent amount of tread. be careful man.
definitely bring the chains
