I can't believe I haven't seen one yet. I'm thinking White on silver or black wheels would be sick.

I seen on by Gilroy and another in LA. Not too common yet, but like everyone said 40K.. hell to the NO. What is new about the car other than the slightly fancier interior and the shell? The engine is still similar to before right? 40K for a boy racer car...i would rather get a bimmer.

Yea, they have. They came out with a procedure for the dealer to run their own little oil analysis.

I'll be getting mine for 33k before T&L...dunno bout you guys and your 40 grand ideas. And the new STI will thoroughly beat the **** out of all previous years, don't even worry. Its not about the engine.

Yea I saw the info for the testing on subaru.net, not sure I would be comfortable with that whole process though.

I agree the platform is very capable although a running 04+ STI might be a little too much for a 08 STI with failed main and rod bearings

I'm not debating that. Overall I'm certain it's a better car and if I gave it a chance I might come around. I just don't like the market they're going for and I don't like the looks of it. This is coming from a guy who gutted his brand new STi and gave it an impossibly stiff ride with Ohlins. I want no creature comforts whatsoever, I have a comfortable DD. To be honest, there isn't a car on the market that totally appeals to me. I'd be better off getting a used car and making it how I want anyway rather than wasting money. The only one I think I would really **** my pants to have is the black series AMG. Deleted back seat, purpose built, tunable suspension and loads of carbon. ****ing right.

Yea, I've seen the procedure as well, its pretty sketchy . I don't know about you, but I have been very active in the 08 community and there have been no known cases over here in the US. Being that this problem seems to exhibit itself fairly early on...we can only assume that subaru was just being careful -- or lets hope.
