Do they realize we are laughing at them? (ricers)

Well because in the early days of Honda drag racing the fastest Hondas ran like (correct me) 14 inch steelies in front because of the lighter unsprung weight giving them a better time.
They would come to the track with their four aftermarket rims, switch the front two out for a better time and race.
After a while it was accepted that the fastest Hondas ran steel fronts, and everyone wanting to look like those draggers copied the look, after-all 2 is cheaper then 4 and looks more "authentic."
Just like thos of us with WRB WRX, they are trying to emulate something they admire.
rice cop ticket wtld I know
Also their wheel composition. Why do they only have 2? Do some wheel shops sell wheels by the pair? Or do the locate another fellow ricer and agree on a deal to split the cost of a full set of wheels? Economical yes, but the hard part to grasp here is why are the after market wheels placed on the axles where there is no power distributed?

Well, all I have to say is when I was in Maui this past week, I saw the absolute epitome of the word "ricer"....and the best part of it is, that it was a Mustang! I DID take a couple of pics of this "monster ricebowl" but its on my sisters camera, and she will be sending the pics to me when she gets them developed....I will post them up when I get 'em. But yea, it was rice, fo sho.

fellow suby owners please let this convo die already.... first. no i didnt rice out my wrx and would never... but i have alot of friends in the scene, yes there are alot of people out there that have just taken it over board, but my best friend and i for example are building a "ricer" show car out of his mazda protege... he built race cars for 13 years and decided to go this way beacause of the car he was stuck with. of coursed he gets laughed at alot but y? because you dont like his car? i've heard alot of people tell me my car is ugly from stock ... and yet we all chose our purchase... and your hobby is no better than any1 elses. "ricers" dont do anything to harm you ...most of the time... and if they want to race and your up for it spank em. but never ridicule some 1 for there hobby.

Only way an ugly car gets props from me is if it is faster than my car, or if the person who designed the ugliness did it as a joke. That said....
I'll admit I'm a car snob. Nothing against the people driving them, but the cars just make me laugh when I see and hear them farting around town.
My thing is, you can think poorly of a car, because it's just a thing in the end, just an object. But looking down on other people is another thing and it's not right. People can change their body kits but they can't change who they are.
I hope this has been a valuable life lesson.
oh also homemade body kits made of cardboard get props always but yet to see one in person
