Okay, so I take my WRX upto Diablo Subaru in Walnut Creek to have them perform the cruise cable recall, seat bolt replacement, and abs sensor fix. I've heard of horror stories but not nearly as many as Stevens Creek, so I went there with a plan of not allowing them to test drive my car. I get there and everyone is going about their everyday tasks, so I drop by the service department to report in that I was there for an 11AM appointment. The girl asks what I want done, and after telling her, I continued to clearly state that no one was to test drive my car as I had just dropped $4,000 in an upgraded tranny, clutch, and flywheel, and I had buddies that had been through there and their techs had broken stuff or dented things, but IF THEY DID, I wanted to be in the car with the tech. She agreed and actually crossed out the "check and report" verbage on the receipt in pen, saying that she would make sure nobody took it out for a drive. So I pull my car upto the garage door and handed them the keys.
Fast forward 40 minutes. I'm sitting in the showroom engrossed in a book a girl friend suggested I read, "He's Just Not That Into You." My thought is suddenly interrupted by a loud shreek coming from my right. I look over, and what do you know? I see my car flying up the service department road, almost red-lining in first gear. And when I say flying, I mean FLYING. (I've got RA gears...how fast is red line in first gear? ALOT faster than a stock tranny!) I didn't think it was gonna stop before turning onto the road. At the last second, I see the rearend pitch up and come to an abrupt stop. I threw down my book and took off running after the car. It was just sitting there waiting for traffic to clear. I get to within about 10 feet of my car, still running, and he (Steven is his name) doesn't slowly roll out, he takes off, I'm guessing from about a 3000RPM launch. I turn around and run back to one of the salesmen, demanding who that was in my car. He pointed me down to the service dept. and told me he didn't know and to go ask them. I storm down there just about as my car was rolling back in. I was ready to tear this guy out of my car and beat him to a pulp. I asked him what the h*ll he thought he was doing red lining my car. He smirked at me and told me he just took it for a test drive. I got in his face so bad the service dept had to come out and pull him away. In a nutshell, he made up excuse after excuse of what he did like, "Oh, your car's muffler is loud, I wasn't going fast," or, "I've worked here for 25 years I know what I'm doing." Everone in the dept backed this a**hole. Even the girl who wrote up my receipt went back on her word and said that he was supposed to go out for a test drive!! Can you belive these people??
SO DO NOT GO TO DIABLO SUBARU IN WALNUT CREEK!!
THEIR PR IS POOR AND THEY DON'T REALLY GIVE A FLYING CRAP, EVEN IF THEY DO TELL YOU SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN THE BEGINNING!

SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME.
I took my car in to see if they would warranty a bad wheel bearing. I specifcally said if they need to drive the car to let me know becuase I want to go with them while test driving it. I had just had a shop joy ride in my car when it was being worked on and when I got the car back my defi gauge showed a peak of 1.2 bar so you know they floored it.
Well 10 minutes after dropping the car off i hear it roar out of the parking lot. I run out and ask why I wasnt notified, the guy at the desk apologized and said he did note that i wanted to go in the car if they were to drive it. Well when the tech got back with the car i hit the defi peak on the gauges and of course its at 1.2 bar which means he floored it.
I go up to the guy (white guy with a shaved head in his 20's) and asked him why he had to floor my car just to test out a bad wheel bearing. His reply was that he has driven STi's that were faster than my car and that he is a good driver. I told him to **** off and walked away. I did see his manager yelling at him after but i'm not sure that even did any good.

I bought my car from them because they were the only few dealers left with silver. it was an alright experience. i didnt like how this young kid got to drive my car to get gas. the salesman said no one drives the car, but when the kid asked the salesman where the keys were to the car, he said it was "where i left it last", so obviously they do drive the car. this guy was a service agent though, he deatails the cars. but still im sure he doesnt treat it nice. and he drives it hard. i dont like young guys working at dealers because its obvious they will beat the car.
