Please enlighten us.

BTW, if you are tuning cars, and you are not registered with the BAR, you are one that's truly ****ed, not a shop.

People should talk but when people have spoke in the past about GST or gruppe-s, for example. They have been attacked.... We have all seen it...
So that really doesnt work now does it.

Problem is people are cheap.. If they change a intake filter and the scaling goes off. They dont want to spend $400 for a retune. Most tuners that I have seen dont even check for a clean air filter. Its a load you up and hear you go.
Its only going to get worse as the ecomony gets worse.
But the backlash is real.. Cobb's getting it from both sides. Tuners and customers..

And no thats not me..

Calm down...I'm not attacking you.
I did not see a line of pissed off people.
Some are frustrated, and rightfully so.

I have no idea who you are, what you do, or what experience you have with dealing with the BAR.

Maybe if you come clean & tell us all about your experiences, we'd be able to have a better discussion.

My view is this..
Lock it and somethng goes wrong.. be ready to be held accountable.
Unlock it for the very few that know what they are doing. Build a bigger customer base.

Hell if I was a Cobb tuner I'd do it.. Then just watch hoards of people come to me for tunes.

You have the orignal rom anyways.. And there is a record of how many times a ecu has been flashed. You be very easy to get off the hook is "joe" goes and blows it up..

As far as my experiences.. I have none.. I'm only playing the man

After reading all your input...

It seems you missed something major!

Like the fact that if you modify your car, you should take responsibility. If you tell your tuner you want a reliable tune, they will make it so. If you are like most people though, you just say a number you'd like to achieve and you dont think of the consequences.

Also, If you bring your car to get tuned, the tuner is there to tune. If you brought a POS that is falling apart, that is your fault. The Tuner is not a mechanic!

The good tuners' don't have the time to work on someone's car for them.

bottom line: It's your car, It's your responsibility.

Not when people pay $$$ for said tuners expertise. This was spoken and then backed up by a tuner on the nosic thread I think.

The tuner needs a high standard then. If he only loads and tunes, I can see why things blow on the dyno.

Remember You need to hold a higher standard as a tuner. Tune the motor, If something is cheap or a pos then refuse to tune it.

Thats a very double edged knife...

I also know a legal movement that is forming to bring this up in court in the future. I think it needs to be done myself.
Please re think this situation and explain why it won't work.

im sure the BAR runs a massive undercover program to expose illegal tuners that requires BAR officials to:
1.) go (convincingly) under cover as tuners
2.) spend money on cars that a tuner would actually touch.

even a **** tuner wont touch a **** car, so how is the BAR going to spend money for overtime on all the personnel and purchase adequate cars to conduct such a sting whilest having a budget smaller than mine?
