Disney buys Lucas Arts, Episode 7 in the works
Disney Buys Lucasfilm for $4B, Targets Star Wars: Episode 7 for 2015 | Underwire | Wired.com
Not breaking news but surprised it hasnt been posted...unless Im the only fan boy here.
What are your thoughts on this, everyone has mixed thoughts on what the outcome will be.
For me personally I think its not a bad deal, Star Wars nowadays is geared towards kids and what better company to run that than Disney. As far as the Episode 7 goes I hope its something outside the realm of the Skywalker timeline, something either before or after in the Expanded Universe. I did hear also that they might use the original cast (Hamil, Ford, Fisher) since they are much older and could fit the rolls (?). Seeing as how Lucas butchered 1&2 and most of 3 (I liked it) it would be nice to get another take on the story.
...that or Disney goes and f*s it up.

They have to do the first film under their umbrella right or fans will go on a rampage. I expect it will be fine, as Lucas will still be involved as a consultant on the films. Personally, I don't think it is a good thing, but they really can't do any worse than the last three from Lucas (they weren't bad, but definitely did not live up to the originals).

Disney seems to have been doing well with Marvel, but of course Stan Lee is their consultant there. Some of the movies were really good, and others sort of sucked.
Lucas handed the reigns over because he wanted to be able to spend that 4 billion while he was still alive...

I dont have high expectations, but I do have high hopes. Regardless Disney is going to make a **** ton of money and that's the business there in...I mean to make kids happy, yeah~
I think Disney has/can make adult oriented films though, I loved both Tron films and dont think they were too kiddie. Also Marvel and Pixar films are both kid and adult friendly.
A good point my friend made, does this mean Star Wars will be in Kingdom Hearts? *fingers crossed*

As an employee I am pretty optimistic that it's going to be a great thing for the company as a whole.
New movies aside, people are pretty excited to see how things go in the near future.

LucasFilms was scheduled to be at my school but could not due to the Disney deal,Im not a star wars fan but wanted to see what was going on.If it gets rescheduled i will post questions and answers unless the above poster that is a employee can help.Seems like a solid deal for disney to have the rights and be able to bring various movies etc to a different audience.
