When is the last time you were pulled over by a Federal Officer for a traffic violation?

You are making the presumption that cops abide by, or even give a five about the law. I guarantee you that if a cop wants to look in your trunk, he will. If you do not give him permission, you may very well be detained on the side of the road for hours while the cop gets a warrant, all the while being threatened and harassed by the cop.

As a practical matter, if a cop wants to look in your trunk, your best course of action is to detail everything you know to be in the trunk and then grant permission for the officer to search it. That way your car will end up less dismantled, and your chance of getting your *** kicked by a punk with a badge is reduced.

why a knife? just curious. i always have a pocket knife on me as do a lot of cops. Some are traditional folders and some are tactical. Why is that cause for anything if it's legal and/or not concealed by laying on my passenger seat?

cops have too much power..
all they need to do..

"It smells like pot in your car get out and let me look for it"

the thing with club cards.. cops take your weed still.. you have to go to court and claim it and they give your money back IF YOU WIN

one of my friends with a VALID CLUB CARD got thrown in the DRUNK TANK for being high in public (in the back of his friends car)

the good thing.. cops are only really looking for meth they dont really care about pot

What not legal about that? Sure, potentially dickheaded if you dont deserve it, but in every way legal.

Why bother detailing the contents? If he's gonna search, he's gonna search it. Just because you tell him you have nothing but a spare doesn't mean he wont search it less.

Your best bet if you dont want your trunk searched is to deny permission. He may say **** it because he doesn't have grounds to get a warrent and let it go. Granting him permission is something you should only do if you are 100% theres nothing there, and you sure dont need to help him by providing a packing list.
