Did you know that if an officer pulls you over...
and you have a loud muffler, etc... He has probable cause to search your engine bay, HOWEVER, you CANNOT (Unless you have a knife in plain view) search your car by any means... And even if you did have a knife in plain view, he can ONLY search the interior of your car, the trunk is OFF LIMITS. They CANNOT check your trunk, unless you tell them you have a dead body in the trunk or something stupid.

well if you get pulled over and coast to a stop and turn off your car before he opens his door, then can he judge on the exhaust tip? cuz my car was checked, f'ker made me get out and open it up, but i had nothing to hide.

and also all they really need was a reasonable suspicion to pull you over, then if you said something weird and suspicious, then they will have a probable cause to search you.
