If the husband really swerved to the exit, I feel even worse for him, because it was part his fault too. If I had someone following me and I missed an exit that bad...I would've just taken the next one, and pulled over to say I missed the exit.

That would make too much sense. Probably 2% of all drivers would do that.

Have you seen how many people actually pull over on the freeway to backup to the exit?

Yes. I saw a women in LA on the freeway throw the car in reverse when she missed the exit.

And no. Not all women are bad drivers, just the ones that drive SUV's. My dad just told me he almost got run off the road when a woman in an suv turned to wide and went into his turning lane. He honked furiously and she just ignored him.

I have a feeling that the wife was chasing the husband down. if she was following him to go somewhere together and this happened I would hope that he would stop and try to help his family.
