It can also sound very different depending on how bad it is. I doubt any sort of recording device would be able to pick up minor knock enough for most listeners to be able to discern it. I know this doesn't really help much, but learning to pick out knock is just a thing of experience. You can also usually fairly easily tell if a car has been knocking from looking at logs. There are also products like the Knock Link and a similar product from TurboXS that provide a visual alarm of knock.
Thanks again for the help. We are really furtane in the BAIC to have a lot of experts to help us greenies. It makes it a lot easier. Your explanation makes me think I might have heard something different. I am going to look into one of those methods you metioned to monitor the knock.

I wonder if possibly I heard an exhaust leak. With no spring bolts and no flex sections on my tbe isn't it possible maybe I made something seperate upon flexing do to power? I will keep monitoring it and for fun I am going to check out my plugs.

I doubt what you heard was an exhaust leak. Your description does sound like knock but without actually hearing it for myself or seeing logs, I can not be sure.

Thanks

BTW, it looks like we will be supporting Ecutek in the near future .

Thanks
that is good news on the EcuExplorer, I am on a hunt for a cable now. My problem with the Ecutek is the single map. When I get tuned with my FP Green I am going to get at least 2 maps if not 3 if there is time. I want to run 91, 104, and c16 maps for street and the track. Going for a nice smooth 91 tune but want more aggressive tunes for when it's time to get busy.

I just have to say thanks to everyone for their responses, it's funny how on a "smaller" suby forum in a local section you can get this much good help/feedback and in other ones you don't get half the help from tewice the people. Mike just saw this thread and IM'd me. I am going to log and send them to him. He was even so nice to offer if I came by he would chuck her on the dyno. Talk about support!
