DEE DEE DEE man of the year...

so today, like everyday i go to work, but today i saw a new '06 350z siting in the middle of the service drive and i was like... humm maybe it was just done with a detail and is inside due to rain. BUT! later on i was told by the parts manger that the Z was in becuase the guy who bought the car though it was some kinda magical car and could drive into water... the water was up past the headlights and water was sucked up into the intake locking up the motor... i tryed to start it up when no one was looking and it made the funkiest sound i've ever heard, the car had 1000 miles on it.... wow, just wow.... just wanted to share that with u guys

Won't they be disassembling the intake system to get all of the water out?

More like the whole motor, if it's hydrolocked. Same thing happened to my friend's S2000 with a AEM CAI.

if you knew the engine had taken in water why would you try to start it??? i know chances the customer had f***ed it up are 99% but wouldnt it had been better to get it in the shop and remove the plugs then turn it over or does nissan just do a whole motor even if the heads are still good?

w3rd!

shame on you... good chances are you fubared it up more then it already was, if not killed the motor for sure.

the chance that the car was at idle and just shut off befor causing any hardcore damage is good, but you turning it over only made everything worse for sure.

-15 for you

i have way tooooo many 4wd trucks do submarining and restart it.

chances are conn rods are broken.

remember kids, water DOESNT compress too good like air in the combustion chamber.

ANY chance of water being sucked into the intake, immediately stop the engine.

then take out all the spark plugs.

remove coil wire.

crank the engine over and watch as water shoot out of plug holes. then clean intake as much as possible.

hydrolocking the engine is a PITA... but i have seen this done correctly and no damage has occured, other than cleaning afterwards...

tough luck to the new owner.

doesnt matter, motor will either get replaced under warranty or he will be denied, they wont screw around tearing down a hydrolocked motor. 2 of these came into my Acura dealership back in the day and they dont even mess around with rebuilds. If he gets denied his best bet is to claim flood damage with his insurance.

and.... why would warranty cover this?

i mean its clear that this has nothing to do with the manufacturer or dealer, well exept the employee that turned the motor over and bent the snot out of the internals

I know, but sometimes things get through, not all car companies are as aggressive as SOA with their warranty coverage, we covered a guys tranny rebuild on his GSR that was towed in from the race track.
